About
Computer Career Foundation, Inc. was formed in January 2009 for charitable and educational purposes. Specifically, we provide computer transition scholarships to laid off, unemployed, underemployed and low income individuals to attend the Computer Career Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. It has been a frustrating and discouraging experience that many of Computer Career Institute’s motivated applicants could not afford the cost of tuition or qualify for financing and therefore were unable to advance their lives. Computer Career Foundation was formed to answer this call for educational help in Phoenix, Arizona.
Because most of these applicants desire to acquire marketable computer skills quickly the computer training programs offered will be short term in nature (1-4 months) to minimize unemployment time. Each scholarship award will range from $1000- $6500 depending on program cost and individual’s income status. The Foundation’s scholarship is not a loan, so the recipient will not have to pay back any portion. Each training program will lead to a recognized certification (Microsoft technical and Office, Project Management or CompTIA) in order to improve employment opportunities. Each scholarship recipient will also receive special job placement assistance from Staffing to YOU, Inc. (collocated inside Computer Career Institute and Computer Career Foundation) to facilitate better employment faster. Potential applicants will here about the Foundation’s scholarships through its website, newspaper ads, internet promotions, Computer Career Institute staff, word of mouth and media press releases.
The activities of Computer Career Foundation will be conducted at the offices of Computer Career Institute, governed by its Board (meeting quarterly) and performed by the Scholarship Selection committee who determines which applicants will receive scholarships and the amounts awarded. Eligible applicants must be recently laid off, unemployed, underemployed or low income individuals (determined by average Phoenix Metropolitan income statistics). The Scholarship Selection committee (made up of representatives from Computer Career Institute, StaffingToYOU, TrainingtoYOU and outside parties) will meet each month to determine scholarships awarded. By providing scholarships to individuals in need and facilitating better job placement, the Computer Career Foundation’s activities directly further our exempt charitable and educational purposes.
The activities of Computer Career Foundation will be funded primarily through government and private educational grants. The Foundation will use the expertise of professional grant writers to apply for all relevant charitable and educational grants that allow the Foundation to accelerate the careers of more unemployed, underemployed and low income individuals. It is the Foundation’s goal to serve 30 individuals in 2009 and 60 individuals in 2010. Because the Officers, Directors and Selection Committee will not receive any compensation, the primary expense will be grant writing with additional expenses being professional fees, telephone and office expenses
